Horrible periods

Hi! My periods have been pretty hard for a very long time. I've been on several different pills but to little help. I accidentally messed up taking my pills the other day and took a red pill instead of the white. And right as I got my period this morning I felt sick to my stomach and threw up for awhile. I read that it's common for some women to throw up on their period. Could me mistaking my medicine have anything to do with my symptoms?
