Breastfeeding... Don't get discouraged!
I have been breastfeeding for almost 2 weeks now and I will tell you it's been pretty rough. At first I thought she wasn't getting enough but I was reassured by my lactation consultant that she is getting plenty and that it takes time for the milk to fully come in. I started supplementing as well just to be sure she was getting enough. I went to my wic office and got a pump to pump when shes not eating, to make sure i dont dry up and because the long nights of her waking up to nurse 5 times a night was getting hard so I'd pump so my bf could help feed. But I'd only get maybe 1 maybe 2 oz pumping for an 1 hr from both boobs. I took advice and did everything to try to help bring my supply up; drink tons of water, lean foward, massage my boobs, eat and it felt like nothing wasnt working.
Well I was about to give up and just nurse during the day and formula feed at night but I decided to pump one more time just to make sure and THIS(pic below) is what I got from one boob, it might not be alot to some but to me
it is an accomplishment!! I am so happy I got so much.
Ive been reading tons of breastfeeding posts and want to say...
Dont give up. it does get frustrating and will make you feel like you can't do it but you can it just takes time. Your baby is getting enough and if you feel he/she isn't then you can supplement.
Coming from one mom to another doing both is nothing to feel like a failure for! You can do it just be patient and it will happen!!
