There are so many forms of counseling and different philosophical approaches to therapy. A therapist has to hold space for you, and can be a relief to speak with someone who isn't concerned about anything except your well-being. If you want actual change, look into forms of cognitive behavioral therapy.Hope this helps

Been there multiple times in life - love it! Keep an open mind and don't be afraid to be picky with who you chose to see. It's important to like and trust the person you see. Good luck and good for you!

My fiance goes and he recommends therapy highly, he went through a very rough patch of insecurities and depression and he thanks God and therapy any time he thinks back to how he felt before he got things sorted out.

I would say if you feel like you need to then just do it and see how it makes you feel. Everyone has different experiences. Don't be put off by a specific counsellor either as not every counsellor works for every person. I had to have counselling as part of my job I used to do, all staff had to see her at least once a month. It helped me die to the nature of the job and what we were dealing with on a daily basis. I always think it's good to talk and best to get things out on the open even if it's just getting someone else's viewpoint. Hope everything works out for you.

My advice is to be okay with being picky about who you choose as a counselor or therapist or whatever. It is important you feel comfortable and trust them. It's okay if you see someone once or twice and it just doesn't feel right. Therapy is proven to help people. If it's not working out its most likely just that you haven't found the right therapist yet. I currently have seen someone twice and it's just not a good fit. So I need to try again, find someone better for me. IMO therapy is great but finding the right therapist can be difficult.

My husband and I both go to counseling together and individual sessions as well. It has helped us both so much. Every time I walk out of there I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. I highly recommend it.
