What do I do? Cheap ring but expensive...

So recently my boyfriend and I conversed about getting a commitment ring because in our life, we are not ready for engagement. He has been at annual training with the military for a couple of weeks and while he was gone, bought some VERY expensive sex toys. I'm talking 180+ for both. I got nosy in his email.. (Wrong of me. Yes I know..) and found out he also ordered my promise ring.. He spent 17 bucks on the ring after we agreed on at least 60. We have been together two years, and I just felt really really hurt by this. He doesn't know I know about the ring and he's planning to keep it a secret.. Does he care more about sex or what? He's never cared about sex as a huge function of our relationship, I'm just highly offended he bought me a cheap ass ring. Advice ladies please!

How old are you? Hate to tell you, but a $60 ring is a cheap ass ring too. You don't need to commitment ring to be committed in a relationship.

My advice would be, when he does give you the ring to not accept it and explain to him that you don't deserve it because you have no respect for what it represents and we're more worried about the price tag than the actual commitment he was making.

You are too young to settle for something so low key.  His words should be enough.  The ring that he bought is a bit of a sidestep.  He may have gotten it just to please you.  Be patient and life will bring you much more than a cheap ring.  Whether it is with him or not, you want the love of your life to be able to spoil/surprise you.  If he can spend 180 on fun nights he can save and spent 300 for a perfect life.  Wishing you the best of luck!

I've never heard of a commitment ring? It sounds like an engagement ring without the commitment. Like a promise ring. But $60 is still cheap regardless. Honestly though I don't think it matters how much is spent on a ring. I wouldn't worry about it.

I paid $74 for my engagement right and wedding band . It shouldn't matter the cost of it , the meaning behind the ring is more important then the cost of it, ever thing maybe HE liked the design of the ring and that's why he picked it

Is your relationship and commitment to each other solely dependent on how much he spent on your ring? Because if it is, then you don't deserve it.

If you hadn't been nosy, and snooped through his email in the first place you would have no idea how much he was spending on these things, and maybe wouldn't feel so disappointed. He still got you a ring, does it really matter how much it cost?!

At first I was outraged, I was like "Girl how dare he buy you a cheap ass ring!" But now I'm wondering where your priorities are... If he already spent $180 on you (whether on sex toys or not) why does he HAVE to spend $60 more... You aren't even getting engaged, it's just a promise ring. I would probably be upset but just let it go.

If it's not an engagement ring then I wouldn't even care. I see what your saying about him spending more on the sex toys than the ring but at the end of the day the love between you two is all that matters and screw a promise ring. They mean shit till the real ring comes along
