Gender specific??

Question

What makes something boy or girl? Not us as humans but colors, cartoon characters, carrying Barbie Dolls vs. G.I. Joe??? 
Girls should play house while the boys get dirty?

It's all societal norms and cultural constructs. Check out articles and research by sociocultural anthropologists on gender norms and expectations (see if you can find simplified versions, most academics get suuuper long winded). It's fascinating stuff and can explain a lot about why things are the way they are in general.

I hate gender specific things and how people are so gender stereotypical. I hate how it's okay for a girl to be a "tomboy" like I was as a kid but if a boy put on a princess dress then suddenly he's gay and you're a bad mom.

My kids will play with, or dress how ever they want. Toys are toys. Kids are kids. Why limit them to certain things because society says they can't play with other things?

To me only certain words are gender specific. Like 'handsome' is for a male, and 'beautiful' for a girl.  So my children will be playing with and wearing anything they want. I wish they didn't put things like 'daddy's little girl' or 'mommy's big boy' on clothes -why use 'little' for girls and 'big' for boys, especially when they're sold for the same age, they're the same size!

My son who is now 9 use to wear my heels loved my little pony and baby dolls all because they had long hair just like he does..... And no he's not gay the believes that's a sin but he loves all people that are different from him... My mom played high school football and was on the boys wrestling team when she was younger,and had GI Joes and Trucks, so I don't believe in that only boys play with trucks and girls play with dolls
