Lucas Michael born on 6-15-16 birth story.
Water broke at 11pm on 6-13-16, just as we crawled into bed. Arrived at the hospital at midnight, only a fingertip dialated. Spent 8 hours walking on and off and only progressed to a centimeter! Continued walking and by 11am I was 3cm. 16 hours into labor, I decided to get the epidural because I was exhausted and spent. Was still unable to sleep because I had to rotate positions every 30 min. 23 hours into labor and started feeling all the contractions. After about 40 min of pure hell the nurses realized the tube with the epidural drip had disconnected, and I didn't have any in my system anymore (I was dialated to an 8 At this point). My body was shaking almost like convulsions and I began throwing up from the pain. After about an hour and a half they finally got the epidural reconnected. Baby's heart rate dropped with every contraction and then picked back up when they were done. At 6am ( 31 hours into labor at this point) and the doctor told me to start pushing because baby was having a hard time. Pushed 3 times and they gave me an oxygen mask because baby's heart rate went from 120bpm to 40bpm, and was not picking back up fast enough after each push. Pushed 3 more times and then they rushed me to O.R. doctor said they were going to have to put me under completely and have an emergency cesarean. Husband was left in the hallway. Woke up 2 hours later to my husband rubbing my hand talking to me. Our son's ambilical cord had been wrapped around his body and legs, causing his heart rate to drop because each push and contraction compressed tightly down on the cord. I was still the first to hold him. He is absolutely beautiful! Running off about 4 hours of sleep each night. His daddy and I love him to pieces and are blessed beyond measure!
