Do you have to tell the dr if your dilating?

I'm 37 weeks pregnant and I have no idea if I'm dilating or not. All I know is that the baby is head down. Do I have to ask my Dr or do they do it on thier own?

My Dr told me as long as the pregnancy is healthy and baby is healthy and no reason to worry about it, then she won't check until 39 weeks.

If they haven't checked you yet then you should ask if your curious if your dilating I'm ganna ask with my up coming appt since I been haven pains and I'm 32 weeks
