Night feedings, how can husband help?

I would love to hear how you manage night feedings. I am hoping to breastfeed ( baby is due in a few months), and I will have a pump. My husband says he can feed our son some nights to give me a break. But I'm wondering wouldn't I have to wake up anyways? I thought if I breastfeed I will have to wake up in the middle of the night anyway either to feed or pump, otherwise I will wake up with engorgement in the morning😳

I'm a ftm so obviously don't have any knowledge yet as to how this works, please correct me if I'm wrong and hoping to hear what works for you🙏🏻😊Thank you

We both get up. He gets him, changes his diaper and holds him so I can get him a bottle and use the bathroom. Then he hands him to me and I feed him, burp him and get him back to sleep. Then he takes him, swaddles him, and puts him back in his basinet. We work as a team and the whole thing takes maybe 20 minutes, 30 at the longest. All 3 of us get back to sleep pretty quickly and get some extra sleep.

Yeah, you'll most likely need to pump either way, but it's a nice bonding moment for him to feed baby an expressed bottle while you pump sometimes, and even just having him get you anything you need while breastfeeding is helpful. Sometimes a little company at 3am is a good thing! 😜

For the first month or so, my husband would wake up when our daughter did, get her and change her diaper, bring her to me to feed, and then get me water or a snack if I needed one. That alone helped tremendously. 
After a couple of months, I had the routine down and it was just easier for me to do it :)
But if you want him to actually feed, pumping is the way to go

from the beginning (our son is 14 weeks) we both get up. (when he's needing to be fed and changed). I breastfed for the first month, so my husband would change his diaper and I would feed our boy. now when he wakes up around 5am my husband will change and feed him (by bottle of course) while I pump. that way we are both done around the same time, and I can wash up all the pumping parts and we can get back to sleep around the same time.

it really is nice getting help during the night.

My son is only 16 days old and right now I'm EBF. So my husband will change diapers, burp, get me water, and I feed. My son sleeps about 3-4 hours at night so he only gets up a couple of times. I also feed him every 1.5-2 hours during the day so he'll have a longer stretch of sleep at night.
To answer your question about being engorged if your husband feeds the baby at night, most likely yes. I know for me I feel heavier when I wake up to feed at night. If that's what you guys decide to do then maybe have him feed only once at night so you don't wake up too heavy.

I always just breastfeed on a night, if we bottle fed I'd end up being woken up anyway because my LO is impatient so would start screaming when waiting for the bottle to warm up. We co sleep so it's pretty easy, I just get my boob out and fall back to sleep with my LO feeding.
