IUD and Period???

I got my IUD at the beginning of this month and my period started a couple week later. It was supposed to be over last Thursday but it's not... Is this normal???

My experience when I had Mirena inserted, I spotted for about 2 months on and off. However, mind you that this was just spotting. My boyfriend and I continued to have sex throughout this time and it was totally fine. Mind you, these months were mainly spotting. Not like a normal flow. With Mirena, this will vary from person to person. I think their website says it could last for up to 3 months. Not sure but either way, you have no choice but to make the best of it. I'm sure your soon to be husband won't mind! Maybe on your wedding day, just insert a Menstural cup so you don't have a pad or tampon to change. Don't worry though, it could end at any time. Enjoy your wedding and honeymoon!

For me it took like three weeks to calm down after getting the IUD inserted, which my doctor told me was normal. Prob not good news for your wedding...

Your body has to regulate itself which can take a while after you have an IUD placed. If you continue to bleed or if it is heavy I would talk to your doctor.
