What did your early labor contractions feel like?

I think I'm having contractions, but I'm not sure what they're supposed to feel like. What did yours feel like in your early labor?

About an hour and a half after my water broke it felt like period cramps. It wasn't until 3-4 hours after my water broke maybe longer I felt a real contraction.

Any contractions that I've had, I'm not too sure if they were real or Braxton hicks, felt like dull period cramps or just a tightening across my stomach.
