Am I the only one????

Am I the only person that thinks people having showers for every baby is tacky/greedy? I get that some people have a boy the first time then a girl the 2nd (or vice versa) and need different colored things. And that is why I'm 100% for not finding out what I'm having... everything I register for or get will be neutral and can be used for either gender. Then there are some people that have a huge gap in between kids and get rid of everything because they think they're not going to have anymore, I completely understand that they might need a shower in this case. But there are girls I went to high school with and are having their 3rd or 4th child within the span of 6 years and have had a baby shower for each one! Maybe it is just me... but I had to rant a little lol just find it kind of rude and greedy.

I just like to let people do whatever they want without judging. People can have have a hundred baby showers, I don't care. I'd even bring a gift. I try not to let my life, or brain be consumed with thoughts on the actions of others.

I think it's tacky and in really poor taste. Having a gathering of sorts like a cook out or like a party so everyone can meet the baby is fun, but to register for things exc is super tacky in my book. I mean if you have a girl first and you have a pink bouncer do you really think your baby boy cares? Or even has an opinion lol. I really don't get the argument that you're having different genders either. If you've decided to have another child you've decided to take on the financial responsibility of clothing and feeding your little one.

Where I'm from its considered tacky/gift-grabby to have a shower after the first baby, and I have to say I agree with that mind frame. A shower is to get you set up to start a family, not to provide brand new everything for each new baby. That high chair you registered for can be used for all of your babies. So can the baby monitor, stroller, and most other big ticket items. Clothes and diapers for your new baby are things you should be prepared to buy yourself, considering you're the one who made the decision to have another child. At a certain point it becomes obnoxious to keep asking the same people over and over again to attend gift-giving events for your life choices and milestones, you know? Isn't a bridal shower gift, wedding gift, and baby shower gift enough? We really have to do gifts for subsequent babies, too? I mean - where does it end?I don't say all of this to sound like a miser, lol. And I totally believe every baby is a blessing and should be celebrated! But there are so many ways to celebrate other than a shower where guests are expected to bring gifts. That's just my 2 cents!

I don't see anything wrong with having a small celebration for each child like a Sprinkle excetera. But I don't think it's everyone else's responsibility to provide for each baby , that the parents job. Yes it's nice to get diapers and wipes but I wouldn't expect to get big gifts each time because the parents should be providing that.

Yeah, I understand. I think I'd still want to celebrate each baby in some way, though.. Whether it be a gender revel party or whatever.

I think in some situations it's absolutely fine. I don't really see the problem anyhow, people just like celebrating their new additions and having children already can definitely make money tight. We're are only outsiders looking in. Regardless of gender I plan on having a shower with my second, I'm not looking for giant gifts at all. Of course there nice considering I can't afford it. For myself I have nothing left over from my first. But that's because my ex husband had a man tantrum and destroyed all my things after leaving him. So you never really know what could be happening in others homes. I'd just bring a gift, smile, and let the mother enjoy her day. Pregnancy is hard guys. And we will all always be bashed for something.

No!!!  For some people is not about being greedy, is about having friends and family come together to celebrate the new member of the family. my mom and mother in law invite friends and family to show off the arrival of their new grand child that is coming. My family and I spend over $700 in the party not including the desert table or cake because my BFriend is going to make it for me as a gift. we make our own food, and it's no hamburgers or hot dogs, we serve about five different foods from fresh made enchiladas to salads and ceviche and more. I am not looking forward to get as much free stuff as I can but the experience of the baby shower and having my family and friends together and enjoying the baby shower. I'm having my baby shower this week end and I'm am so exited to see my family and friend that I have not seen I a while. This will will my fourth child but my 3rd baby shower and I can't wait.

Usually my mom and in law make me separate parties. We are going to combine both families and they are big. This will be my last child so they want to go all out. My point is that not all people are greedy and just want to get free stuff. I'm lucky to have this party it's all about family and love.

I had a baby shower with my first and now that I'm pregnant with twins I'm definitely having another one. Everyone has an opinion.

Idk if it's tacky or not.. but I'm on my 3rd baby and my mom is throwing me one.. one because it's the first baby girl in our family.. there's 6 grandbabies and they're all boys.. 2 because my last baby was 6 years ago and I literally gave everything away because I wasn't planning on having another baby since I was a single mom.. but then I met my amazing husband and we got pregnant alot sooner than we planned.. we just had our wedding last October and we payed for it ourselves and well we also payed for our honey moon so we spent a ton of money (luckily we don't owe anything wedding related) so my mom thought it would be nice to have a shower for us specially since everyone keeps telling me they better get invited to my baby shower when they don't even know if I'll have one or not lol.. but I have already received a ton of hand me downs from friends and family so I only registered for the things I don't have... we don't care if nobody gets them for us tho.. we will obviously buy it ourselves.. but both of our families are very excited and I'm sure they will get us most of what we registered for... not because we're greedy but because they love our babygirl and want to make sure she has everything she needs

You know I'm off the frame of mind to think people can do whatever they want and everyone's situation is different. I am on my 4th baby and I have had two showers. One for my first and my third. A close friend of mine loves throwing baby showers and did my last one and she really wants to do one for this baby which is my last. I have no problem with it since she loves it and all of my family and friends enjoy getting together to have fun and celebrate another bundle of joy coming into this world. Again every person's situation is very different, but to each their own. No greed or tackiness on my end and you can think whatever you want.
