What age did you moved out of your parents house?

I am 30 and still live with my parents.. Yes i hear alot of negative stuff about it .

Personally, I think as a parent my job is to get my kids ready for adulthood and teach them to be independent and provide for themselves. I moved out at 17. My children are welcome to live with me until they start college, and can spend summers at home through their graduation. Maybe 6 months to figure something out after graduation, then they get the boot. I believe I'd be doing them a disservice to enable them to rely on me as adults. If they choose not to go to college, maybe a year of living here past high school to get enough saved up to move out. I'll always be their mom, but part of being a mom is showing them how to be adults.

I went away for college. I was given six months after college graduation to get myself together and m9ve out. So 22. I will do the same for kid. No disrespect or judgement but I want a child who can support himself and has a,plan as we are retiring when he's in college so bank rolling him isn't an option. My friends whose parents helped them out went into credit card debt and had unrealistic expectations

If you are that old with your parents- I hope you have a massive savings account...

Unless your parents are ill, its cultural thing, or you are saving to buy a home  I think it's completely bizarre to live with your parents at 30.

I am 29 and my husband and I own 3 homes now. I haven't lived with my parents since I left for college at 17.

I didn't move out until I was 30, when my husband and I bought our house together. We moved in a few months before the wedding. I see nothing wrong with it and my parents loved having a kid at home. Plus gave me chance to save money for house. It wasn't like I couldn't afford to live alone but in the long run it saved me a ton!!!

Where do you live hon?  I know some cities housing costs, even shared at torture.  Health issues can also be a big factor.  Over all though, seems like you could move on with your life and give your parents some space?

Would've been 18 for college but i ended up going to a college close to home so I had no need (or the money lol) to move out then. So now i plan to move out after graduation at 21.

I moved out right after high school and moved in with my then boyfriend... I would still stay home a few days a week because they were closer to school and work. When I broke up with my boyfriend I moved back home with them. Now, my mom is really sick, and between her medical bills and the high cost of living in this state, my boyfriend and I (both 25) are living here helping my parents with the house. I am currently 31 weeks and 6 days pregnant, and not working, but I take care of the house, and my boyfriend helps with bills. We technically don't pay rent, but when they need extra money for bills or groceries we pay for it. It is helping my parents out a lot, while also helping us save to get a house as well, since in this damn state a mortgage for a 5 bedroom 3 bathroom house is cheaper than rent for a 3 bedroom one bathroom apartment! So, it's a win win for both parties
