Tummy time..

Angel
Anyone else's 4 month old hate tummy time? He will do it for like 2 min max and then throws a fit. He sits in his bouncy seat and loves that and can hold his head up great. He needs more tummy Time so he can roll over which he can do but refuses to do as well. Any advice?

My daughter will last a few minutes then scream her head off. We try to do it a little everyday, but once she starts getting mad we turn her over on her back with her activity gym and she is better. She has rolled over 2 times, but never when I am looking so I do tummy time to see if she will do it and she won't. It just makes her mad. She does okay with the nursing pillow under her.

I've never pushed it with my kids. In my experience they enjoy it once they are in control. That has been the case with this baby girl. Once she could roll back and forth she enjoyed being on the floor. At that point she could decide if she wanted to be on her tummy or back and change if she wanted to. I would advise against using TV to get a baby to tolerate tummy time. They really don't need to be watching it at this point. There is tons of research out about the harm it causes when introduced too early.

My son loves tummy time! Sometimes I put him over the boppy and have grabbing baskets in front of him or Christmas lights under a thin blanket. Other times I recline our recliner and put him up there so he can watch tv. When I do regular tummy time without the boppy, I put him on a busy, colorful blanket so he can stare at that. Also can put accordion books in front of him/around him so he looks at that. Mirrors are great too!

My son hated it too but consistency is key. Ever since he started daycare they put him on tummy time while singing to him and providing enough toys to distract him. So now he's gotten way better at it. Lasting up to 30 minutes. Signing toys or ones that move really help with making him forget what's going on and focus on looking up. I even play blues clues or any baby show on my phone while he's on his belly.

Thank you! I have several toys but I like the idea of music or video. He loves to watch tv so I may can somehow allow him to be able to watch something maybe off my iPad to kind of get his attention better. I know once he figures out he can roll and move (eventually crawl) he will like being down
