I was driving my moms car for my first. When I turned 18 we put it in my name and since I had a job I had to pay for my insurance. It kinda sucked but that was my only thing I ever had to pay so it helped me be responsible. When I got my new car my insurance company made me pay huge amounts but I learned to keep money aside for it. Then I learned I was being scammed and switched to geico lol

I didn't have a car until I was 19 and moved out and paid for the insurance myself. It cost me everything I made at my job at the time, so I essentially needed the car to work, and worked to pay for the car.

When I was in highschool I had a older car that I paid cash for so there was no requirement from the bank if I had a loan to have a certain amount of coverage, I was driver on my parents but I paid for it myself. It was really cheap. Once I turned 18 I had to get on my own and I got on with progressive and they have a lot of discounts you can take advantage of. I know they have one for if you're in highschool you submit your grades to them and they lower your rate of your grades are good. There is also a "snapshot" it's a little device you hook up under your steering wheel and it tracks how often you break hard or excelorrate really fast and such and can bring your quote down if your a safe driver!
