Introducing Riley Kate; born at 33 weeks!
On June 25, I realized that I was going on almost 15 hours without feeling my baby move. Usually I could put my hand on my belly, and she would move at least a little bit. I had tried everything that I could think of, I drank cold water, orange juice, poked my belly for 30 minutes, and eventually I just had a feeling that something was wrong. I called my doctor but didn't get an answer, so I left a message. I called my mom after and told her what was happening, and she told me to go straight to the hospital so I did. When I got there they did a non stress test and an ultrasound, and they found out that my baby girl was under stress for some reason. Her heart rate would go from 160 and drop to 115. The said that she was squirming on the ultrasound, just not hard enough for me to feel it. They also checked me, I was 2 centimeters dilated and 50% effaced. They sent me home since I wasn't having any contractions. About 20 minutes after I got home, I felt a huge gush of warm liquid down my legs. I'm a ftm so I didn't know if I had just peed or if it was my water, so I called my mom again and she told me it sounded like my water had broke. After I got off the phone with her, my doctor called back and told me to come back to the hospital. I started progressing super fast from that point. I went from being 2 cm at 11 pm, to being fully dilated at 5:30 am. They kept me on magnesium and gave me steroid shots to help strengthen her lungs. She was born June 26 at 6:34 am, 7 weeks early. She weighed 4 pounds 10 ounces and she's 17 inches long. She will be in the nicu for a week or two, and it just makes me feel so broken. But I'm beyond thankful that I trusted my gut and went in, they told me if I had waited much longer, my sweet girl may not have made it. But thank the good man above, she's still here and doing so so well. ❤️
