After giving birth

I have a question about after giving birth. How long were you in bed before getting up to walk? Idk if it's just my family but we're Hispanic and they didn't really let me get up with my first child. Just to use the restroom. I showered but if I would have let them they would've given me a sponge bath haha. It was nice because they would come and help with everything around the house. But geez! They wanted me to always be in bed. They always wanted me to wear a sweater also or to cover myself if I went outside and this was in the summer time, at night mostly. I'm due in two weeks and don't want to go through that again if I don't need to.
