I'm 5 weeks postpartum after a waterbirth. I honestly look back on my labour and birth with fond memories. I found it such an amazing experience so I would highly recommend giving it a go. 
Keep in mind that there are situations that a waterbirth isn't possible, so be flexible with your plans.

I would hope for your best case scenario and plan for the worst. I wanted an epidural but had some friends that did it all natural. If you have a high pain tolerance then you can probably go for natural with minimal meds but I don't and it was the worst pain I've ever experienced so l still got the epidural and it made it much more manageable and it didn't completely work

It honestly depends upon the person. Im a ftm and would have had a water birth but insurance didn't cover it. So I had a hospital birth. It was an unmedicated one though :) It isn't as bad as many people try to make it seem. I was in labor for 40+ hours, had pitocin for 10 (to speed up dilation) hours and still had no pain meds. The contractions were rough with the pitocin but nothing unmanageable. Pushing was the easiest part lol. We are all made to give birth, meds aren't usually necessary. But everyone has that choice to make. I suggest researching different birthing positions BC laying on your back is the most painful position. Squatting to birth was awesome for me. I mostly labored on a ball, standing and leaning on people and sitting on the toilet. There's nothing wrong with deciding to get pain meds but I feel like everyone should try without. Sometimes adverse affects stay with you after an epidural, recovery can be more difficult, tearing is more likely etc. I was extremely aware and lucid my entire labor and am glad I remember everything, even the pain. Birth is amazing ❤ Just do your research (books, documentaries, other mom's, different types of pain management, birthing positions, birth plans etc and form your own decision!
