Fmla help!!

Hi ladies!

I live in Michigan and planned on using FMLA for 12 weeks of maternity leave. I emailed my employer about the paperwork and got the response of my doctor would have to approve me for all 12 weeks. Aren't you allowed to take 6 weeks for baby bonding? I'm so confused
