Is lake swimming allowed in the 3rd trimester?

We were going to go to the lake for 4th of July and I wanted to swim. 29 weeks currently and was told you can't swim in a lake due to bacteria? Isn't that what our closed cervix/mucus plug is there to prevent? Seemed odd but just thought Id see what everyone thinks.

You can swim in lake water until you lose your plug; maybe even until your water breaks. I talked with my provider about this a few months ago but we didn't talk about the final trimester. It doesn't hurt to double-check with your provider.

If the water temp is above 85/90 there's the brain eating ameba that can get through your eyes, Nascar cavity, etc. it's another year with strange weather which they believe is causing the bacteria to host in lake and fresh water. Two people have died from it recently it isn't an exaggerated news article. Being a nurse I've seen skin eating bacteria and it's deadly. I'd be careful and don't go under water if you do swim. Also, just check the water temp because it can only live in fairly warm fresh water.

Thanks ladies. I'll put in a call tomorrow but I thought if a chlorinated pool was okay then a lake would be too. I mean chemicals vs. lake water..
