Smoking Help.

So, I've been a heavy smoker for 5+ years, and a couple days ago I found out I was 7 weeks pregnant. Since then I've been able to cut down my habit from 3-4 packs daily to about 5 or so cigarettes a day. But, I'm having extreme difficulty giving up those last few cigarettes. I wanna know any tips you have, or stories about how you quit. I feel like I'm failing my child because I can't give them up. But, I know I NEED to, the cravings are just so ridiculously strong. So, any advice, tips or anything you know that could help, please comment. I plan on talking to my Doctor about it on July 5th. I'm 7 weeks and 4 days today. Thank you.

Have in mind: your nicotin craving decreases after 2 weeks ( your addiction needs time to go away) therefore it's normal that you think you 'must' have a cigarette. Congratulation that you were able to cut down your nicotin from 5 packs a day to 5 cigaretts a day. That's a huge act. So please be patient and try to cut down to 3 cigaretts a day. Every single cigarett that you don't smoke is good for you and your Baby. After a while you should be able to cut down completely. Good luck.

I smoked a pack a day for 10 years and I didn't find out I was pregnant until 10weeks. For myself, I instinctively knew I had to stop for my babies health. The cravings never went away but it was more habitual in my experience too. I always associated smoking with driving, after meals and with drinking.

I smoked 2 packs a day. I cut back to about 5 cigarettes. Then I took one away..and kept going until I got down to zero. The craving never goes away and it doesn't help that my husband smokes but I chew a lot of gum and every time I want one I look at my ultrasound picture. Best of luck!! I know it's hard!

My morning sickness was so bad that I had actually started slowing down prior to even finding out that I was pregnant. But once I found out, I stopped cold turkey. Just remember you will always have cravings BUT they do get better as time goes on

I smoked a pack a day and massive weed and at my multiple attempts to quit over the years all failures somehow when i found out i was pregnant i dropped it all . Cold turkey . Some people just have the mindset that none of that shit is worth my babys health . Just put ur mind to it and think like that . U can do it ! Good luck

I smoked a pack a day and quit the day I found out I was pregnant. Slowly stopping is still harming your baby though.. My motivation was my baby. There's no way in hell I would've quit otherwise. You just gotta not think about yourself-- do it for your babes. Good luck!
