Any photographers out there? Question!

Hi, guys! I'm really loving photography. I'm just getting into it, so still a beginner.
I have the Nikon 5100 and have taken some really nice shots. 
My question is, what do y'all use for editing? Free or not, was it worth it, do you use it for every photo? 
I've used Picasa, but I feel like there's so much more I'm missing out on!
Here's a few photos I've taken, just to show my beginners level, but eye for photography.

At school we mainly use photoshop. I personally think photos look better unedited. This is my favourite that I've taken.

Lightroom for a batch of photos, photoshop for single photos that I'm doing something creative with, and illustrator for graphic design type things. I bought the suite a few years before they did the online thing so it cost me a bit but I prefer it!

Photoshop is the best, but Adobe Lightroom is amazing for handling lots of images at once. If you're not looking to get crazy with fancy tricks but just want to be able to color correct, adjust lighting, crop, or add some tone filters (b&w, sepia, etc) then it is the way to go. Honestly I use that most of the time and save Photoshop for if I need to do more detailed work (i.e. removing a blemish, burning/dodging part of my image, etc)

Photoshop was always my go to when I was studying but that can be expensive! I'm not really taking photos anymore but if I do I will use my macs in built editing software which works fine if you only wish to play around with the contrast and lighting without getting too technical :)

I edit on a Mac with downloaded Photoshop and Lightroom from Adobe. I paid around $100 for Photoshop elements and it just wasn't for me, so now I just pay $10/month for the package and it's always the newest version. At the least, I use Lightroom in some way, shape, or form for every photo but normally I do a little in both. It's definitely worth it if you want to continue photography and doesn't break the bank

You've got some nice shots here, just need to work on sharpening focus. Which honestly could be the terrible upload quality of this app, but just a heads up. I prefer photoshop and light room. They have it all online now "creative cloud" they call it. The photographer pkg gives you photoshop and light room, that will always be updated automatically so no spending hundreds everytime they come out with a new version. It's  $10/mo, you just have to have Internet access at least every 30 days to verify your acct.
