Is it acceptable nowadays to have a baby shower for each child?

I'm having a second boy. Thought it was weird to throw another one. So I'll be having a "sip n see" after he's born with only 20 close friends and family. And it will be a drop in type between times given so not everyone shows up at once. Which is nice and not so overwhelming

I think if it's opposite gender or if it's been 5+ years between children it's acceptable. I do like the "sprinkle" idea where it's like a mini shower with few/several close friends and family members though.

I just had one for my second girl! You still need stuff for the next baby, and you still want to celebrate the pregnancy and birth! I'm so glad I did it- it was fun and I got all the double stroller accessories and crap that I still needed (like a 2nd humidifier, sound machine, and some fresh and stain free bibs).

I think it depends. I know people who had a shower for each. I know people who had just one and then had a "sprinkle" for the second.  Or instead just had a co-Ed diaper party for the second. I had actually planned to have a sprinkle/diaper party for my second but we bought a house and were moving and frankly ran out of time. I think your sister in law was rude for telling you it's unacceptable. Six years is a long time! I'm sure you probably need a decent amount of stuff. My kids are same gender and 20 months apart and there was still stuff I needed. Nothing wrong with you having a shower.

I'm Having a sprinkle.. same gender but they will be 5 years apart.. 15 friends and only thing on my regisyry are diapers wipes bottles pacifiers soaps.. I have everything else really

In my opinion, it Depends if its a different sex, or if theres been a decent amount if time between the babies

we had one with both my older kids 3 years apart and different genders (also different fathers). 
This one there's a 4 year gap, we're not finding out gender and we will have a meet the baby party thing after wards. We already have the big stuff and don't want anyone to feel obligated to buy anything. Just want to celebrate the birth of our third child and second one together, with the people we care about

If you'd asked me this a week ago I'd have said no, but now I've learned that the old rule of only one baby shower is going out the window.  This is my 2nd pregnancy and my mother is insisting on throwing me a shower - and I just had my son last with a a shower for him last year!!!  I thought that would be so tacky but everyone I've spoken to says they've had showers for each child regardless of spacing.  I guess times have changed.  Lol
