Cats and babies?

So my SO told me that cat hair is bad for new borns, is this true? I've had my cats for years, like 14. and we have a baby coming . Should I be worried?

I have 7 cats and have never worried. Actually studies have shown having pets decreases a child's risk of having allergies to those animals. Cats love to lounge in anything for the baby so if you don't want hair on something just cover with a sheet when not in use.

Everything will be fine! I have two cats and when I first brought my son home he would sneeze a lot. I panicked! I deep cleaned the house. After that he was fine :) just keep up with vacuuming and dusting.

No. This will be my 3rd child and I have had 2 cats the whole time. I just dont let the cats in the babies crib or anything.. I actually try to keep them out of the babies room all together. Only because they love sleeping right next to your face and I'm scared that it could suffocate the baby or something. But my children never had any problems with the cats.

No. You shouldn't be worried. Its only bad if they are allergic to them. The only thing to be cautious about is the cats getting in the bed with the baby. They will be attracted to the milk smell on their breathe.

Also you can buy a baby gate to help keep the cats out. That's what I did. Plus one of our cats is too fat to jump over it LOL and keep a spray bottle close.

I think everything will be just fine. I grew up with cats and hubby and I have a cat now. Just make sure to keep an eye on them when you 1st bring baby home and make sure you still give the cat plenty of attention. My cats when I was growing up just treated me like I was their baby. Lol

Baby should be fine. Make sure you vacuum twice a week and dust frequently to avoid discomfort. My cat is definitely going to be afraid of my baby.
