Fetal echocardiogram in third trimester

Mina
I transferred my care to a different midwifery and at my first appointment today I'm being sent for a fetal echocardiogram even though the baby's heart sounds great. My fiancés family has a history of Marfan Syndrome which can cause heart defects and other issues, but it's a dominant genetic disease, and my fiancé doesn't have it so our son can't have it. I just feel like this is something worrying to have done this late in my pregnancy, the scan won't be done until I'm 30-31 weeks(they normally do fetal echocardiogram sat 20-24 weeks). If my OB I was seeing before I transferred my care wasn't worried about it, why should the midwifery I'm using now? I'm obviously going to go and have the scan done to make sure everything is okay, but why wouldn't my OB  have asked for it to be done months ago when it's easiest to see things before the baby gets too big?
