I need advice!

I've been wanting to go have my teeth cleaned at the dentist office but when I called and told them I'm pregnant they said I needed a note from my OB saying it was ok to take an X-Ray.

Has anyone had to do that? I just want to prevent anything. I know gums can get sensitive during pregnancy and my gums have been a little sensitive (I'm 16 weeks) any advice?
