Your induction opinions?!

Are inductions really as bad as everyone says?  I know eveyone is different. Ive always just heard horror stories.

My induction went great for me! Quick and easy and no more pain then I expected to feel in labor. I had an elective one with my first and thought I would do another one with this one (I'm so impatient) but I'm considering going on my own since this is my last one. I want to be patient and have my baby in God's time not my own but we will see.

With my son. My water broke at 37 weeks. I went in they started potocin. It was painful, I had an epidural pretty fast. I labored for a total of 17 1/2 hrs and pushed for over 4. With my daughter I was induced at 38 weeks. They started pitocin around 430pm, they broke my water around 930pm, the pain was bearable til around 12am I then got the epidural around close to 2 am. The nice part is after I had the epidural the nurses continued to help me move into different positions to help me progress faster. I started pushing around 630 am and she was born at 708am. So everyone is different and every pregnancy is different.

Mine was PERFECT. labor lasted 10 hours. Pushed 4 times and baby was out. I went home the next day!!

My induction went amazing 5 hour labor. 3 pushes and he was out.  I will be induced again in 8 days if she doesn't come by then and hoping for another quick and easy one but will be happy as long as we both are healthy in the end of it all.

Mine was awesome. Except when they gave me Stadol and I puked, lol! I got the epidural and literally slept through most of it.

I'm getting induced on the 12th. So I'm going to follow your post. (FTM) it was a difficult decision but I'm gonna do it. And it seems to me that every one has there own experiences with it. Some woman love being induced just because everything is planned. And some woman are totally against it. My dr says she doesn't understand why and is making me feel good about my decision. But good luck with what you choose! There is no wrong choice in my opinion!

I think there is a time and a place for every option and you just have to do the research and decide what's right for you. I personally have not been through a full induction, but my water broke and my contractions wouldn't regulate enough to be productive, so I ended up on a very high dose of pitocin (the low doses didn't do the trick). This would have been no big deal, except my epidural quit working toward the end and I went from feeling nothing to ... let's be gentle about it and call it "very unpleasant" (because I'm not trying to scare you). ... I don't know if that will happen again this time around, but if it does, I'll do it the same way again, because going through that pain meant I got a healthy baby and didn't need surgery (because a c-section is surgery, no matter how common everyone acts like it is) to get him here.

Pitocin tends to make your contractions longer and closer together, and usually every 2 minutes the entire time. So labor is more intense when pitocin is used, typically. There are women that hate inductions and there are women that love them. You can have tough natural labors and easy inductions and vise verse.

My friend hated being induced. She barely had time to catch her breathe between the contractions, hers where about 20 seconds apart.
