Is MIL considered a visitor??

So I was discussing with my mother how I don't want visitors for atleast a week after I come home from the hospital and she thought I was being unreasonable! I thought most women got time to themselves to recover?? I don't mind if my mother is there but I don't particularly like my MIL and I would much rather not see her when I'm feeling like crap and all that. Is it rude to not let her see the child for a week?

If your mother can visit, then his mother can too. Especially if your only issue is you don't like her. She's still the baby's grandma. If it wasn't for her, you wouldn't have your child

I read your previous post. Just tell her: "women lose pregnancies all the time, so it's best for you not to make a plan to visit until it actually arrives." Give her a taste of her own medicine!

I'd say maybe invite her to visit in the hospital, but then ask for some time to rest and acclimate when you get home. I don't think it's unreasonable to not want to be bombarded with visitors (especially ones that make you uncomfortable) for the first week home with baby.

Well, you can look at it this way. Your mom is your baby's grandmom, right? Your husband's mom is the baby's grandmom too! Both are on equal levels as far as the baby is concerned. Just make sure that you are given plenty of notice of their arrival so that they wont walk in on you unannounced

I'm stressing about any visitors coming to the house =/ my husband thinks I'm crazy lol.  I understand completely where you are coming from.  FTM and just don't know what to expect, especially with breastfeeding!  Would prefer just people that I actually feel comfortable around, and my MIL just isn't one of them. Nothing personal and not a bad person at all!  So to be fair,  we're going to try to tell everyone to come to hospital and tell everyone no visitors for a little while once we're home to get comfortable.. but it's a bunch of Italians, so I can just foresee how this is going to go..

If ur mom can come then she should b able to come to if u dnt wnt ur mother are NO ONE over then thts fine but u have to be fair
