1st fertility appointment help!!

I had my first fertility appointment on friday there and nothing was discussed other than i have 6 months to lose 2 - 4 stone in weight which i am so determined to do. Im only 24 and my partner is 29 but it wasnt how i thought it would be. I thought they would discuss what my options were in terms of ivf, chlomid etc etc. I actually felt like the doctor wasnt very forth coming with information. can anyone else share there experience of there first appointment and if they think my experience sounds about right
