What's the right answer? 🤔

This is probably a stupid question but I'm not sure what counts as my first day of my period. I usually have spotting when I go to the bathroom for a day or two before I actually start bleeding. Is cycle day 1 when I first start spotting or is it when I'm actually bleeding throughout the day?
