Reflux Help!!!

Our little one has always spit up a lot. When she was a newborn our Doctor offered us some reflux meds which we passed on. She didn't seem bothered by the spitting up or upset and was gaining weight perfectly. She has continued to have spit up and sometimes she had days where I could tell her reflux was worse than others (more frequent and larger spitting up). However, about a month ago she started to have nasal congestion. At first the doctor thought it was a cold, but it never cleared up. Then they thought maybe back to back colds or allergies. After about a month of nasal congestion, and now also having a phlegmy cough, they have decided it is reflux related. I was told that sometimes reflux impacts the sinuses causing congestion and post nasal drip. I asked about reflux meds because our kiddo just seems unhappy. She is congested, coughing, and sometimes refuses feedings (always when it is bottles with a babysitter). She has gone nine hours and only had 7 ozs on two occasions. She has started waking up out of a dead sleep crying inconsolably. You can sometimes feel the phlegm rattling around in her chest. You can sometimes hear her refluxing and fighting it back. This time the nurse practitioner said that our kiddo has GER and not GERD, so no meds. She basically said because our little one is still gaining well it doesn't qualify as reflux disease and we just have to wait for her to grow out of it. I feel so bad because she just seems to be more and more uncomfortable. Today she basically just cried off and on all day. Ate but only very small feedings. Woke up coughing until she spit up. Has had several phlegmy spit ups. I'm tempted to make yet another appointment for her to be seen regarding this issue - but with her pediatrician who offered the reflux meds way back when - just to get the drugs. She seems plenty uncomfortable to me, even if she is gaining weight. Also, just to explain we saw the NP because her pedi was on vacation and we were concerned she needed to be seen sooner. Thoughts? Am I overreacting? Anyone else have a similar experience? Suggestions?
