How important is a rocking chair/glider?

Question

I'm trying to decide if I should get a rocking chair/glider. I'm going to be a first time mom, and I wasn't planning to get one originally. There isn't much space for one in the nursery, but I could put it in another room or I could re-arrange and make room in the nursery. Obviously, I know babies like to be rocked, but I'm just not sure how important the chair is. What do you ladies think?

They have less expensive ones at Walmart for $120ish. Thats what i use. I find the expensive ones at the baby stores to be way overpriced, they're not even that comfortable. For $400 I would buy a good lazy boy recliner not a baby glider.

we rock my daughter to sleep every night in a rocking chair, but it's in the living room bc there isn't room in our room. She falls asleep so much faster.

I didn't have one with my first and picked one up second hand for this baby. I love it I rock my 2 year old to sleep for nap time almost every day.

I have one, but besides that I've never known anyone that had one lol. We had room for one and got one that looks like a normal chair so we can move into another room when it's not needed in the nursery anymore.

I have one that my mom bought for me years ago, I'm glad I held onto it because it is soothing for baby and comfortable to feed in but it's not a must.
