Mom's who have had c-sections...were you able to do skin to skin?

Question

I am 13w4d and at my last appointment I was told I have placenta previa. I am hopeful that the placenta will move, but I know if it doesn't, I will have to have a c-section. I really want to do skin to skin immediately after birth. I know it as plenty of time to move, it's just something thats been on my mind and I haven't been able to ask the doc yet.

What was your experience? Were you able to do skin to skin after your c section?

The hospital I delivered at has what they call the miracle hour and they always allow the mother to do skin to skin no matter if she had a vaginal birth or c-section! I ended up having an emergency C-section and I was able to do skin to skin right after they took him out and wrapped him up 😊

When I had my cesarean with my son is didn't get to do skin to skin like I wanted. I was in recovery for an hour and when I got back to the room I held my baby for about 10 minutes before I let my family grab him up :) I was afraid if I didn't do skin to skin I wouldn't be able to breast feed, but I did. My milk actually came in the next day and it was plentiful for my son.

I personally had a csection and did skin to skin once I was placed in my room which wasn't long. Before my room though I got to hold him and kiss him and held him while the wheeled me to my room. I was also able to breastfeed successfully.

It depends on your hospital. I wasn't allowed to for 45 min. I plan on asking for skin to skin right away this time considering it won't be an emergency this time I've got my fingers crossed!

I also had placenta previa and had a c section.  Once stitched up, I was able to do skin to skin.

I dint get to, they took me away to recover and then had to give me a blood transfusion... Maybe that's why? I'm not sure.

I wasn't able to have skin to skin till she was 5 days old:( she was born at 35 weeks and was in nicu. She couldn't breath on her own and was in a incubator. But when we finally were able to, it was amazing.

Didn't do skin to skin right away bc of an anesthesia problem. Took about 3 hours to correct, but, husband was able to hold her the entire time and she latched right away when we did get our first skin to skin.

I wasn't able to do skin skin . When my son my born I only got a quick glimpse of him . He was handed to his father while I waited in recovery for an hour

I have heard of a lot of women being able to do skin to skin after a c section. Ask way in advance so if the answer is no you can maybe work something out or switch to a facility that will allow it.
