Baby shower for a second child??

I recently came across this post. What do you guys think of a shower for a second child that's 3.5/4 years apart? I'm asking for a friend who is due soon.

With my second child my friend threw a diapers and wipes party. I've also heard of freezer meal parties where guests bring a meal so the soon to be mom can have a months worth of meals for when baby comes.

I don't see anything wrong with celebrating the new life growing inside a mother no matter how many children she has. In fact, I find it sad that people frown upon a second baby shower. It doesn't have to be about gifts, just a gathering of people who will love this new baby just as much as they love the first.

I think these days it's called a sprinkle for the second child. We threw one for a friend this year and every seemed happy to have time with the parents. The gifts and guest list were smaller than the first one.

To me it's not a big deal however some people find it rude. So most people now have a sprinkle where you are just given items needed, bottles, diapers etc. since you have pretty much everything from the 1st baby. I had just a diaper party last time. It was a time to celebrate baby but no one felt they needed to bring gifts although some still did. This time, this baby was a surprise and I have gotten rid of almost all of my baby stuff, I might have a sprinkle for items like clothing and stuff.

I'm not sure if I get to have one either? My son is only 5 months old and I'm 4 weeks prego with baby #2. Is it wrong for someone to throw me another shower? I'd register for things I just need new of or if it's a different gender.

I would, it's always fun to celebrate a new life coming into the world, also I didn't get a baby shower with my 1st so I'm making sure I get on this time. Lol

Sister in law had a baby sprinkle for her 2nd baby and it was the same gender.

I've never heard of anyone NOT having a shower for each new baby. Usually, the registry doesn't have as many big-ticket items,  since they probably already have that stuff, but I've always seen showers for each child.
