When people ask about how you conceived twins

Question

I guess it's just natural for people to ask "do you have twins in your family"? Personally, I'd rather not tell people about my fertility journey. If you've been through iui or ivf, how do you answer this question?

I just had one answer to anyone who asked 'How did you conceive twins?'.
'We had sex. Unprotected.'

I conceived through IUI and when people ask I always tell them. The fertility journey was very hard on me but I tell others because it gives them hope. They too may be struggling with fertility. You never know. I do understand that some people don't want to discuss it bit you don't have to go into detail. As far as lying and saying it runs in the males side, well that is completely inaccurate. Twins have to run in the females side for her to get pregnant with twins  if fertility treatment isnt used. It has nothing to do with the males genetics. Just do what is comfortable for you!

I plan to lie and say that there are twins in hubbys family to my colleagues at least as they will never be able to know the truth. For the others I would jut say that it is bc of my age (36). I do not want to tell anyone about IVF as it is none of their business and we need to be the ones telling our children one day... I do not want to take the risk that someone would tell them before we do.

All my friends and family know about the IUI. People I don't mind telling I tell them I got twins through the magic of medicine or science or whatever and of they want to know more I elaborate. If it's someone I don't know at all then I just tell them twins do run in the family, which happens to be true generations back.

I agree that I wish infertility would be talked about more openly, so I do reference it unless I think someone will be uncomfortable.

My own mother asked me if I did anything to get pregnant with twins. My dad is actually a twin (identical), and there are two sets of fraternal twins on my mother's side, so I definitely have the twin gene going for me. But I also conceived the month right after a miscarriage, which can mean I possibly hyper ovulated. Idk. It's definitely a question people don't think would mean any harm in asking, but I know it could spark some uneasiness to answer.

I conceived spontaneously but I always wince a little when people ask me because I think about how I'd feel about that question if it was IVF, etc.  Just like a lot of other things with pregnancy , it's a pretty personal question and people who ask that have no clue that it could be an uncomfortable or insensitive question.

I'm always very open about our infertility! When someone asked I tell they we had infertility issues and did 3 rounds of ivf to get to where we are.. if they ask more I share.. I feel like there are so many uneducated people when it comes to infertility so I like to educate and bring awareness! But to each there own.. it's no one's business but you and SO so of u don't wanna share u don't have to.. I think people are just intrigued by twins.. don't think they are trying to be nosey or anything.. although some people can be lol

I just tell people i took drugs and leave out the fertility part and keep talking. It's pretty fun to watch their faces when they don't know I was on fertility meds and did iui lol
