With little help how long did you return to work after maternity leave?

In Australia the government gives you 18W of minimum wage pay (approx $500/wk).

With my son I went back to work the week after he turned 1 (I wanted to spend his bday with him), so I ended up having 1 year and 1 week off after having him, but the first week id taken as annual leave (good thing I did, he came early!).

With my next one I'll have the 18W from the government and also long service leave for 10 years in my industry, which is I think 8W of your normal pay. So it should round out, with annual leave, maternity leave & long service leave to 6 months. We'll need to see/assess how things are going monetary wise when we get to that point.
