Is 18 too young to get pregnant?

I'm 18 years old. My boyfriend is 21. I have a job and am taking college classes once a week. We are engaged and he has a full time job. We're talking about starting a family. I was raised thinking people should have kids when they're older than 25. So to me being 18 I feel like I would get a lot of judgment but I think we're both ready (or as ready as you can be).. Has anyone else had a baby my age? Any advice? Thank you

Yeah you will get judged, but There are A LOT more people having children responsibly( like you) at your age. People who judge you can just shut the freak up. I'm happy for you and wish I was in a position to have a family like you.

I don't think you would be incapable of having a child now. But if it is optional, I would suggest waiting. I was still in school when I had my first, and it did make things more complicated. People have kids and go to school all the time, but I would never suggest someone try and do it. There is no harm in waiting even a couple of more years. Get married, enjoy your newlywed phase and then have a baby!!

I was 17 when I got pregnant with my first, 18 when he was born. The father was 19. We both had scene R jobs, for teenagers, and we did ok. However, it didn't work with the father because he was content with 'getting by' and not doing anything to ever get ahead. I did the rest on my own. Personally I don't think 18 is too young if you know you can do it on your own

What's the rush? I'd wait until you are finished with college so that you'll be able to get a better paying job and it'll be hard with a baby.

I would try to finish college first, I had my first at 21 and it was accidental. My boyfriend, now husband, was going through Fire/EMT school and I always said I'd go back and finish school and here I am with baby number two on the way and still haven't gone back to school. A baby is a wonderful thing but your attention shifts to them

I also recommend finishing college first. I was a full time college student with 6 classes when I got pregnant. Luckily, it was my last semester. I was a 4.0 student before I got pregnant and my grades suffered. It was so difficult with the morning sickness and exhaustion. I can't imagine if she'd been born while I was in school. I have a tremendous amount of respect for moms who go back to school, because just being pregnant was incredibly hard. School is so important, so I definitely will encourage you to finish before conceiving.

My cousin had her baby at 18. They were "ready" , had full time jobs, and rented a house. Then....he lost his job, no college degree. She was in school , had to drop out of school because she had to get two jobs to help.  Fast forward to now, they are divorced and last time I talked to her, she wishes she could've waited at least until she was done with school. It's tough shit. Babies are no joke. Think about it throughly. Besides, you never know what complications you might encounter. Make sure you have a firm financial base.

In my opinion wait until after college. Sooooo much happens in college, you grow, learn and meet ppl from all walks of life. Not to mention how stressful it can be to get schoolwork done let alone raise a child and manage a household too. Babies add stress to our lives whether we can handle it or not, its just an adder to everything else going on. Think it through.
