Baby shower?

None of my friends or family have offered to throw me a baby shower. Is it acceptable to throw my own?

Thank you everyone!  I don't plan on spending a lot and I don't expect gifts. I'm doing merely to celebrate this beautiful little girl we are going to have. We have a very hard time getting pregnant, it took us 7years to have our first and 4 1/2 years to have this one. We just want to celebrate this little miracle!! Thank you all for your input and ideas!! Thankfully I have a good friend who does all my photography and doesn't charge me (we pay her well but she never expects to be paid)

Yeah I know if a friend or relative of mine started throwing their own baby shower I would offer to help, so maybe you will get help or someone will just take over? Idk I suck at planning things so I wouldn't be responsible for throwing a shower for someone but I would absolutely help... You never know, just let people know you are going to start planning one.

Same here. I was so sad at first but then thought hell in a do it MY way!! People get shocked when they ask me who is doing my shower and I say Me, Myself and I!! Good luck, I hope everything goes as planned for you!! Pinterest has some good ideas!!

No one offered to throw me one either so I went ahead and started planning my own and the closer it got to the date of the shower the more involved my stepmom started to get in the planning of it also. She ended up taking over and did all the decorations, games, and we made it a little potluck for food (it was a bbq). I was so thankful for her help in the end because I was so exhausted at 34 weeks that there was no way I would have been able to do all that. All I did was buy my own cake.

If you throw your own just make sure you look at your finances. I have seen some girls on here say they spend $2k on a shower and they hardly receive any gifts and then can't afford to finish getting ready for the baby. Not that having a shower is all about gifts but it is something to think about
