Even though I am not dentist I'm going to guess that its impacted and probably needs to be removed if it is painful as it can lead to constant pain, infection, or worse an abscess. Its pretty common for many people to have impacted wisdom teeth. How long has it been going on or 'trying to break through"? Impacted basically means it won't be able to cut through to fully erupt from your gums, 3 of 4 of mine were this way and needed to be removed.

I used to have that....sometimes it will go away but it's just your tooth tryna get some room just brush you teeth about 3 times a day so it will feel better and leave you alone!
