Questions about birth control

So I'm thinking about getting a prescription for birth control. But I don't really know anything about it, is there a certain brand that I need to look into that is better than others? How often are you suppose to take it? Is it true that you have to take it every day at the same time or it won't work? I feel very forgetful sometimes it sounds like a hassle! I guess I'm just looking for general information about it from some people?
