What does it feel like when you lose your mucus plug?

On Saturday I was just cleaning around the house and had weird warm sensation I knew I was wet down there. Went and wiped and it looked like a bunch of yellow snot. Quite a bit more than your average discharge. Of course I google image searched and read about it and it says that there's usually a tinge of blood and this was just snotty. I did find a few pictures that looked like mine but I'm not sure. Then I also read that it can be weeks still until labor starts. Anyone have similar experience?
