It's one of the boy names I have on my list and my husband crossed it off instantly.

An ugly name? What a nasty thing to say :( this is why we stopped telling people our name ideas, though now my son has given away to some people that we are calling him Hendrix. And I don't care what anyone says anymore!
For the record, I like the name Xander quite a bit!

Seriously, don't worry what other people think... it's so much easier to live life without people's negative opinions.

My mom and mother in law were not fans of the name my husband and I picked for our daughter but... we told them it was her name and they would just have to deal with it. Harsh, I know, but I was tired of hearing them say "call her this instead!", "I like this name better" etc. 
Now, I think they love the name. :)

In the UK I know a couple of Alexander's who are known as Xander (pronounced Zander) and I love the name.
