Would you let someone that smells like cigarettes hold your baby?

My boyfriends bFF smokes and he told me I was just being a bitch bc I told him he can't hold my kid unless he changes his shirt and washes his hands... Am I being a bitch!?

I don't even like walking past people who smell like cigarettes, why would I let my baby get pressed against someone who smelled like that.

Nope. My best friend is a smoker and wanted to come stay with us after the baby is born.  I flat out told her she's not welcome unless she's quit smoking because I'm not having my brand new baby's innocent lungs polluted by her filthy and disgusting habit.  Passive smoke from fabrics and hair etc is no better than just smoking in front of a child imo. And I know smokers think they don't stink if they only smoke outside but they do and it's gross. They can't tell because they're used to the smell and have killed off their senses.

I think the smell is disgusting and it rubs off onto other clothes and furniture.  That said, I'd let him hold the baby, but I would not be thrilled about it.

Second and third hand smoke are deadly.

Third hand smoke sticks to bloody everything, so no you aren't wrong in asking him to change and wash his hands.

I made it clear if I ever had kids, my smoker parents would be showering, brushing their teeth and changing their clothes before holding any kids.they were pissed. I just told them that I didn't want the kid having lung problems from their smoking like I do.

I totally 100% agree with you but just say for arguments sake you are in the wrong- if these are your wishes then a true friend would respect it regardless. 🙂 my DIL smoked and this was always a worry of mine because it would cause huge rows. Thankfully he's stopped smoking now 😃

Thanks foreveryones input. I will be showing him this post because he is a very argumentative person over controversial things. I know he will have an argument against everyone's posts on here that defy his opinion. Lol so I must say in his defense he agreed to wash his hands. But that he thinks it's ridiculous to change his shirt or bring a jacket to wear while smoking. Idk why.
