Onesies under sleeper?

Should you always put a onesie on under sleepers and gowns on newborn?

I found this on pinterest awhile back and had forgotten about it until I saw your question. I've never double checked it, so I'm planning on checking with the pediatrician before following it, but it at least gives a jumping off point...

Curious too... We're in Texas. It's hot. We don't keep the a/c very high, as in cold. It's constantly about 80F. 2 layers feels excessive but I really just don't know.

I live in Utah, so the winters get pretty chilly here. I put a onesie underneath the sleeper my first, and I intend on doing the same with this one. :)

I put onesies on with pants, or under sweaters and vest outfits. I never ever put a onesie on my daughter underneath a sleeper, dress, T-shirt, etc. I more than likely won't be putting onesies on under sleepers for my son either. Maybe if it's ridiculously cold or something? Otherwise it seems unnecessary in my opinion.

I have never done 2 layers, this is the first I have ever heard of it. I do know its not good to overheat your little one. I wont be double layering unless it just gets extremely cold and my heat doesnt work for some reason.

The rule generally is wear what's comfortable for you plus one item. Usually a hat, undershirt or blanket
