NHS maternity pay UK

I am due in March and just trying to work out maternity pay. I recently found out you have have 9 months maternity pay spread over equally. However I wish to take a year off if possible as I really want Christmas off.

Does anyone work for the NHS and can tell me if an employee gets anything between 9-12 month? I am a band 3 employee .
