Opinions!!! Should u have the chocie of when u get induced???

Should u have the chocie for when and if u get induced? Given u r far enough along and have a healthy pregnancey????

I think at 39 weeks, if they do an ultrasound, everything looks normal, baby is developed, then yes. You should be able to set up an induction. I went in at 40 weeks hoping they'd induce me, and it was STILL a no even then. They told me to come back at 41 weeks and then we'd discuss it and set a date but that he'd probably come on his own before then. Here I am at 40+5, still waiting. And at that last appointment, they said baby was measuring a little over 9 pounds. I'm PISSED that they won't induce me with him measuring that big!

I personally think you should be able to. I'm really bad about not being in control 😂

I feel like it's my body, my baby, and if I've put in the amount of time it takes for baby to fully develop; then I should get to decide when he comes out! Everyone will say, oh he's not ready yet if he hasn't come on his own. A lot of women go 42 weeks without going into labor on their own and that is considered dangerous. So I mean, that's not always the case. I wouldn't suggest it at 36 weeks but - 39 to 40, in my opinion should be up to you! End rant... Lol

I think you should have the choice if you've already made it to full term. At least 39 weeks, before then would be risking it and putting the doctor and hospital liable if the baby had to be in the NICU for health reasons. But Doctors know best so I would definitely listen to what they think.

My personal opinion is if you have no medical issues you should be able to at 40-42 weeks. If there's a GOOD medical reason then sooner is okay.

My dr started the discussion at 38 weeks, mainly because I was already starting to dilate and everything looks good so far. But only after 39 weeks. I think that if you aren't a good candidate for it, your dr will say so. But I do think it should be discussed between provider and patient. Had my OB said she didn't think it was a good idea, I would have let it go. I also think that after 40 weeks it should definetly be an option.

If you're induced, but your cervix hasn't started ripening for delivery, labor can be looooooong and hard, and the longer you're there the more is can cost you and the hospital, plus super long labors could be stressful to the baby.  I for one would beg to be induced ASAP, but I get the reasons why waiting is the protocol.
