Why????

Ok so Im 6w 4d and my appt isn't until 22nd Aug. Im more than glad Im preg but annoyed my baby appt is in 3w [something I can't help ok now but still] I just wondered why it takes SO LONG just get an appt

My first apps was at 9 weeks, too. And it was the same for my last two pregnancies, all with different docs. 
They can't do much at 6 weeks. They can verify with a blood test, but you already know anyway. A few weeks further in and they can do an ultrasound. As you may have read from other posters, a lot of women who get an U/S at 6 weeks don't hear a heartbeat. And then get freaked out for weeks until they can get another U/S. 
I would say, although this may sound harsh, most miscarriages are before 8 weeks. Maybe in the doctors mind, it's not worth their time and resources to do an exam until youre in the safe zone? I don't know about you, but every OB's office I've ever been in was crowded and the wait is always long. Think of how much worse it would be if they had to add earlier, mostly unnecessary appts to their schedule when they can't tell you much more than a drugstore pee stick at that point.

Just be patient for a few more weeks and start planning your announcement. :)

My doc also did it that way but at the end the benefits are great, the more along you are in your pregnancy the higher the chances of being able to hear the baby's heart also you can really tell how healthy the baby is since it's bigger and more visible.

From what I know, thay don't get you in till then because that what they prefer. My appt was at 9 weeks too. They can see more of the baby then, and take more information. Getting you in now will make it hard to see the baby and everything. Only the paper that are high risk get seen early. I became high risk and was seen at 6 week, and barely saw anything on a US. I so wish I wasn't and that I could just wait till 9 weeks. Baby could've looking more like a baby, rather than a blob. So I'm jealous you don't get in till later. As far as miscarriages go, it doesn't matter when they see you. It's your body's choose weather it keeps or discharges it. The doctors can't stop it or do anything to tell you if ones gunna happen or not.
