What do you guys do to sooth period cramps?

My cramps get so bad that I'm curled in a ball crying or throwing up.  I just need something to sooth them so I can still be about the day.. I haven't found a medicine that works, nothing my doctor has prescribed works.  HELP!

I take music and use my fiancé as a heating pad.

I microwave a wet towel for about 30 secs at a time in side a plastic bag and put it on my cramps at a heating pad.
