Buying in bulk before baby

A few days ago I bought a bulk pack of wipes and a bulk pack of size 3 diapers. My SO thinks it's the stupidest thing I've ever done?? He said when he had his boys he literally bought as needed. I don't understand how someone could be so unprepared. 😂😐
