Exposed in labor?

Question

How exposed were you when you were delivering your baby? The reason I ask is because I'm going to have my mom in the room with me but she wants my step dad in there and im not sure I'm comfortable with him seeing my vagina and boobs (when I breastfeed). I've just been watching a lot of labor and delivery videos on yt and it seems like everyone in the room can see everything.

Goodness. SHE wants hm in the room. What do you want? If ever there's a time for you to stand up and say what you want, it's for your labour and birth. Don't worry about offending anyone. When I think about my baby's delivery, I cannot imagine a moment of greater privacy, intimacy, power, love, pain or vulnerability. Only my partner will be there, midwives, maybe a doula. Not more than who is medically necessary plus my child's father.
It's your moment with him and your baby. Your mother needs to understand it's her privilege to be there and witness this, not pressure you at all.

No one in hell i would even have my dad in there let alone my step dad , he doesn't need to be there .
When I had my daughter my dad came in and out a couple of times but I was always fully clothed and he drove me in when I was being induced he was great but I wouldn't of wanted my dad to see all of that

I was naked. I felt like clothes were just too much for me and I didn't want them on. 
My maternity ward did have gowns but never offered me one because I just didn't want anything.
There ended up being seven people (one my husband and the rest hospital staff) in my room by the time baby came out. 
We started with just my midwife and husband.

If you don't want someone in the room TELL THEM. Say to your mother "no, sorry he can go in the waiting room but that's all. I'm not comfortable with him being there". 
Also "no" is a complete sentence

It's your delivery and your body. If you don't want him in there than tell her that. This is your special moment of bringing your child into the world, not hers. She had that moment Lol. I wouldn't want to have an extra worry on my plate of him in the room when you are already worried and stressed enough as it is giving birth.

You should be prepared to be exposed! You never know what could happen. I had a gown on and my top was covered, but the dr needs to have a clear view of what she is doing. DH was at my head and didn't see anything, but I would assume you would want your partner at that spot coaching and supporting you. It should be you inviting people, not other inviting people! Quite frankly I would fine it very rude and intrusive if anyone tried to invite themselves in. It's a very joyous moment, but also a very precious time for you and your SO that you only get 1 chance at.

Oh there's nothing kept hidden in there, believe me. I wouldn't have him in. I had my mom in but she left when it came time to push, so we could have that time ourselves. But she saw more of me than she ever needed to lol. And the last thing you want to worry about it keeping covered.

If he ends up being in the room when u deliver . ask him to stand by your head . then when u breastfeed maybe ask him to turn around. I understand my fiance wants his mom in the room and we dont get along at all. So i dont know how yo say no

I had a hospital gown but no knickers, i couldn't lift my legs due to an epidural & my poor BF and OB had to hold a leg up each.

I had my dad mom and husband for my first two and will again with my third. My dad stays up by my head and since i have always been a daddy's girl he stands there and just gives me motivation to keep pushing. He got me cold rags and made jokes to help me during the whole thing. I couldn't imagine not having him there. Plus when it comes to breast feeding I'm not ashamed to nurse my baby in front of anyone.
