TSA: friend or foe?
So I'm leaving to China in about a week, and I've been super stressed because I have to bring a device that looks slightly like a bomb with me on the plane. It's not a bomb it's a prototype for a medical device because I'm going to a conference. (My group and I are all bringing proper documentation saying the device is safe for travel and affirming we are with a university) But everyone is giving me the stuff to carry because I look like a tiny non threatening girl and the rest of them are men. My teammate who's device it is, is middle eastern, so him walking up to the TSA with a device that looks suspicious is going to raise a lot of red flags, and he'll probably get detained. And I had to explain that to him, and it made me feel really annoyed. Like is racial profiling even helping? I think it's honestly unfair and just rude to fellow Americans who have darker skin colors because they are being treated differently from their lighter skin ounterparts. What are your thoughts on the TSA and racial profiling?
***I would show you guys the device but it's patent pending so just imagine a computer chip with a bunch of wires connecting to a white board and a green blinking light***
